CUSTOM 3D PRINTING

3D printed engineering prototypes and custom parts

Turn a drawing, CAD model or practical requirement into a physical prototype you can inspect and refine.

Discuss a prototype

Make the next design decision with a physical part

A prototype helps you check assembly space, mounting positions, clearances and how a design feels in use. Start with the question the part needs to answer: appearance, fit, mechanism movement or a controlled functional trial.

IRIS welcomes enquiries for brackets, housings, jigs, fixtures and replacement geometry. A printed prototype is not automatically suitable as a final load-bearing component. Discuss operating conditions and inspection requirements before selecting the manufacturing approach.

What to include in your enquiry

  • A drawing, model or reference photographs, with dimensions and units.
  • Mating parts, critical clearances, hole positions and any required tolerances.
  • Expected loads, temperature, chemicals and indoor or outdoor use.
  • Quantity, target date and the checks the prototype must pass.

Planning your project

Separate visual and fit checks from structural validation. Record which dimensions matter and how you will measure them. Material, print orientation and post-processing must be considered alongside geometry.

Pricing and timing depend on geometry, size, material, quantity, design work and finishing. Send your requirements for a project-specific discussion; availability and delivery arrangements are confirmed with the quote.

Useful answers

Can I enquire without a finished CAD model?

Yes. Share sketches, dimensions and references so we can discuss what design work is needed.

Can a printed part replace a metal component?

Suitability depends on the loads, environment and required accuracy. For CNC or metal-part production, the website also links to SS Engineers.

Are prototypes guaranteed to meet a tolerance?

Required tolerances and inspection methods must be discussed and agreed for the specific project.

Start with your idea

Send the intended use and the most important dimensions, even if your model is still being developed.
